Stress related illnesses have now officially become the most common reason for lost work days in the business world. It is estimated that British industry loses £370 million a year because of stress and the cost to society as a whole is estimates at £3.75 billion.

People now suffer more with stress related illness, than they do with the common cold, and even if days are not lost through stress, productivity often drops because of it.

Stress can effect a person in different ways but here are just a few it can cause; Headaches, Poor Sleep Patterns, Lack of Concentration, Loss of Confidence and Self-Esteem, Tiredness & Fatigue, Poor Motivation and Low Enthusiasm.

Whether you’re a Director, Manager or other employee, high levels of stress will affect your abilities and productivity.

The Health and Safety Executive have implemented changes within the industry, and have targeted stress as one of their main directives over the next few years. Already landmark cases of both large and small companies being taken to court by their employee has shown both the HSE and the courts determination to reduce the amount of stress in the workplace. Mind managements involvement can take many forms, some listed below.

Risk Assessments

Following HSE guidelines, Mind Management can make a full risk assessment and carry it through to oversee any changes implemented. Whether you’re a large or small company, risk assessments will allow you the opportunity to foresee any possible high risk factors in the workplace.

Workshops

Carried out on site or at our own premises, a workshop will help each individual understand what stress is, why we experience it, and how to deal and manage it to the levels that best suit each person. The workshop can be a general stress management course so each person is taught on how to mange their stress, or a workshop on ways a manager can implement changes for his staff’s stress levels. Mind management run a flexible approach and can set up a workshop to your requirements.

One to One

Often a personal centered approach is needed. This often happens when a person has been off work due to stress. This is carried out in a confidential manner and includes a full follow-up to ease the employee’s way back into the working environment, thus reducing the possibility of any relapse.

Being Flexible

Often a flexible approach is needed to work within a company’s culture. In some companies, it maybe decided that peer counselling is the best approach to stress. Others prefer health related seminars and workshops etc. In other areas where employee’s are reluctant to attend stress workshops to avoid admitting suffering from stress, and therefore look weak to peers and employers, the workshop can be changed to take this into account. So instead of a stress workshop, it can be a workshop on “managing pressure to increase performance”

Mind management can bend and adapt their workshops to your requirements.
